Cascara stands as a testament to the principles of the circular economy movement, transforming coffee fruit peels, typically discarded, into a valuable product. This innovative approach involves processing the overlooked byproduct into a brew reminiscent of fruity loose leaf tea or incorporating it into artisanal baking.

The introduction of single origin cascara serves a dual purpose. Primarily, it aims to create a continuous cycle of value for our producer partners at the source. Secondly, it seeks to highlight the rich sensory diversity of microlot Cascara, an often overlooked byproduct of the coffee industry. This mirrors the existing appreciation for the varied profiles found in coffee itself, presenting a new dimension to the overall coffee experience.

To brew cascara, the dried skins of coffee cherries, start by measuring about 15 grams of cascara for every 250 milliliters of water. Begin by boiling water to just below a simmer, around 90-95°C (194-203°F). In a brewing vessel, add the cascara and pour the hot water over it. Allow the mixture to steep for 4 to 8 minutes, depending on your preferred strength; longer steeping will yield a more intense flavor. After steeping, strain the liquid to separate the cascara from the brew. The resulting infusion will have a sweet, fruity flavor with notes of hibiscus and dried fruit. You can enjoy it hot or iced, making it a versatile beverage. Sweeten or add spices like cinnamon as desired to enhance the flavor profile. Enjoy your refreshing and aromatic cascara brew!
